In 2013, there was a surge in media coverage about medicinal cannabis. There were reports from CBS, ABC, CBS, CBS and local publications that high-cannabidiol marijuana oil could effectively control the symptoms of rare epileptic disorders like Doose and Dravet, as well as infantile spasms, cortical Dysplasia and Doose. These conditions can lead to hundreds of thousands of seizures per week and also affect development in many other ways. It is a daunting task for parents of children with these conditions. Because of the complex nature and complications of Dravet Syndrome and its related syndromes traditional pharmaceuticals are often ineffective and can make the situation worse. Families turned to high CBD cannabis oil to find relief.
High-CBD cannabis oils are non-psychoactive, and may be even more beneficial than high THC cannabis oils. Cannabidiol is another cannabinoid in the cannabis plant, like the more well-known psychoactive cannabinoid THC, with significant research suggesting neuroprotectant, anticancer, antidiabetic, anti-ischemic, antispasmodic, antipsychotic, and antibacterial properties, among others. Cannabidiol is also extracted from cannabis. Such oil contains large amounts of concentrated cannabinoids that can be orally ingested rather than smoked, preserving the medicinal compounds and allowing them to be delivered through digestive system, rather than the respiratory system.
CBD appears to possess panacea-like abilities, as evidenced by research. Sanjay Gupta aired a CNN documentary in August 2013 about Charlotte Figi. Charlotte was a Dravet disorder patient. She suffered from 300 grand mal seizures each week. These seizures were so severe that no medication or diet changes could be made to lower them. Charlotte’s seizures were stopped after Charlotte’s parents discovered high-CBD cannabis oil. Charlotte has now had a total of three minor seizures per week. This case is extraordinary and not uncommon. Dr. Margaret Gedde, a Colorado Springs physician, is tracking 11 new patients of the Stanely brothers, the providers of Charlotte’s high-CBD medicine. 9 of them have had seizures reduced by between 90-100%. This is another miracle.
CBD is effective against complex epileptic disorders. No other pharmaceuticals, even those with the best research, have been able to induce any healing. Yet high-CBD cannabis oil is immediately and potently reducing symptoms, with the only side effects being systemically beneficial – more energy, better learning, improved behavior, and more.
It is not surprising that these results have been documented for many years. Just like research shows cannabinoids are therapeutically effective against epilepsy, there is research suggesting they can eliminate cancers and control other serious diseases. These results have been translated into practice for epilepsy as well as other conditions. Since years, people have successfully eliminated cancers and helped with other conditions such as diabetes and fibromyalgia. This is as serious as it gets, and more attention must be brought to this issue.
